Chris Moore hoping silverware can propel Newcastle United Women towards more success

Magpies lift maiden trophy with perfect season

Striker urging team-mates to push on after claiming first major honour

Newcastle United Women captain Chris Moore is targeting further silverware after firing the Magpies to their first major trophy on Sunday. Moore scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Durham in the final of the Northumberland FA Senior Cup at Whitley Park and hopes the triumph will be a catalyst for more success to come. The 25-year-old striker told nufc.co.uk: "It's such a special feeling. As a team, we've been striving for success for so long. "I think we've come a long way in a short space of time and I'm just so proud of the girls. We've worked hard for this and I think we deserve it." Moore, who joined the Magpies in 2021, is hoping the cup triumph will give the team a confidence boost as they look to continue their progress. She said: "I think we've laid down a marker. We've shown that we're a force to be reckoned with. There's no doubt in my mind that this team can go on and achieve great things." Newcastle United Women will now turn their attention to the FA Women's National League Division One North, where they are currently top of the table. Moore added: "We can't rest on our laurels. We need to keep pushing on and keep improving. I believe that if we do that, we can achieve anything."
